Meeting with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Foreign Trade Minister Lubna Al Qassimi, TOBB Board Vice President Faik Yavuz emphasized the need for the signing of a free trade agreement, saying that the volume of trade between the Gulf Countries and Turkey is 10 billion Dollars.​

Faik Yavuz met with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Foreign Trade Minister Lubna Al Qassimi as part of the President Abdullah Gül’s UAE state visit. The commercial and economic affairs between the two countries were assessed during the meeting.

Stating that the trade potential between Turkey and the UAE remains largely unfulfilled, Yavuz said that the fields of construction, energy, defense, infrastructure and tourism need improvement.

Touching on the Abu Dhabi 2030 vision, Faik Yavuz stated that Turkey should be a part of the investments made to this end.

UAE Foreign Trade Minister Lubna Al Qassimi, stating that the chamber of commerce and industry in a country play large roles in the country’s economic development, said that UAE and Turkish firms do not wholly know each other yet and for this reason it is very important that companies are encouraged to take part in fairs.

Qassimi also stated that her country’s food sector has a lot to learn from Turkey and requested that investments in this sector increase.

During the bilateral talks, TOBB Board Vice President Faik Yavuz listened to the complaints of the region’s businessmen.  The latest developments in the region and potential cooperation opportunities were assessed.

Roundtable discussions on industry, food, logistics, textiles, banking, finances, petro-chemistry, energy, health and automobile sectors by their respective representatives during the business lunch hosted by the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
