TOBB Turkey Automotive Commerce Council came together at the Union İstanbul Service Building under Yüksel Mermer. The council demanded legislative reform regarding the renewed part import permit granted by the Economy Ministry and clarification on the differences of renewed and used parts. It was decided that a preliminary study would be conducted before the demands are brought to the Ministry.

Attending the council meeting, Economy Ministry Imports General Directorate Automotive Branch Director Mehmet Kavak provided council members with information regarding the clauses of the imports regime pertaining to the automotive sector. Stating that the import of renewed parts is subject to the permit of the Ministry, Kavak reported that permits are granted for the purposes of R&D.

In recognition of the ongoing work to have the Motorized Vehicles Tax take into account the emission readings (in terms of harm to the environment) and not the vehicle’s age, it was decided that further information should be requested from the Ministry of Treasury’s Income Policies General Directorate.
