Retail Council convened

The Retail Council of the Union of Chambers and Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) convened via video conference with the participation of TOBB Board Member Cengiz Günay under the chairmanship of Council President Alp Önder Özpamukçu.​

At the meeting, additional articles and inspections of the Law on The Regulation of Retail Trade No. 6585 and the problems posed by the differences with Ministry Circulars implementation were discussed, while the importance of minimizing VAT in the supply and sale of masks, disinfectants and hygiene products during the Covid-19 transition period was stressed.

Council members expressed the need for special regulation covering malls, street and all commercial areas during this period, pointing out the need for supports in rent, operating expenses and costs. At the meeting, the issues of extension and facilitation of the Short Work Allowance, the negative effects of additional customs duties on organized retail were also discussed. Council Members stressed the issue of the importance of the ease of deducting the retailer's VAT to be monitored by public institutions, expressed their desire to take part in any work that will fall to them during the normalization process.
