EU-Turkey Cooperation: Commission welcomes Member State agreement on Refugee Facility for Turkey

The European Commission today welcomed the agreement by Member States on the details of the €3 billion Refugee Facility for Turkey, which the Commission proposed on 24 November in the context of our cooperation with Turkey on tackling the refugee crisis. ​

EU SME Days Celebrated in 21 Centers

Ankara EU Information Center realized its SME Days Thematic Event on 17th November, 2015 in Atatürk Vocational and Technic Anatolian High School.. Different speakers adressed students on entrepreneurship under the title of “Be the Entrepreneur of Your Life”. Demet VAROĞLU, TOBB ETU Department of Management , made her presentation on “What is to Establish Your Own Business?”. Serpil POLAT, head of TOBB Women Entrepreneurs Council and Sedat KILIÇ, member of TOBB Young Entrepreneurs Council gave speeches on their professional experiences. Furthermore, Samet ÇELİK, TOBB ETU SEM trainer, lectured on “Understanding Social Media” and Akif AKTUĞ on succes and motivation. ​

“Breathing Our Common Culture” Event with Ankara EU Information Center

Ankara EUIC in collaboration with Çankaya Municipality realized the event “Breathing Our Common Culture” in Umut Training Center, on 3rd November 2015. Mr. Javier Menendez SANCHEZ, Head of Education Programmes in Spanish Embassy and Ms. Melina VERGİ, teacher from Greek Embassy made presentations on their leading cultures. Following the session, children expressed themselves via ceramics-making and then watched the play “Selam Sana Shakespeare”.​

University Students discussed "Refugees and Rights" at the ninth EU Youth Forum in İzmir

126 university students from twenty-two cities in Turkey participated in the 9th European Youth Forum on 22-24 October in İzmir, together with the Head of Delegation Hansjörg Haber, members of press and academia. The students attended training sessions on topics such as the Fundamental Rights of Refugees, the Refugee Crisis, and Integration of Refugees from the Turkish and EU Perspective and debated these issues in workshops. During the forum, moderated by Kaan Yakuphan, representatives from different religious and ethnic groups, students and refugee guests living in Turkey were set to discuss the theme “Refugees and rights” and deliberate on the results of a questionnaire. ​


European Science and Fun Day was celebrated with an event in Halide Edip Adıvar Secondary School; in cooperation between Ankara EU Information Center and ATAUM European Documentation Center. By the presentations of Musician Zafer GÖKÇER and “Flying Circus of Science”; a creative and interactive Show, awareness on music and science were aimed to be increased. ​

World Democracy Day Celebrated with High School Students

World Democracy Day was celebrated via various public events, such as seminars, theatres, workshops; organized by EU Information Centers around Turkey. Ankara EUIC, on 18th September 2015, focused on themes such as “the culture of democracy and living together” with an interactive event addressing high school students. Students experienced a democracy simulation to implement and internalize it in their lives and project it to the future.​

Applications are Open for Interactive Training on “The Culture of Democracy and Living Together”

Ankara EUIC is organising an interactive training to celebrate Democracy Day, addressing 10 and 11th grade students in Ankara. The training will be one day long and free of charge; in TOBB ETU on 18th September, 2015. For applications please fill in the form in the web link below. Accepted students will be contacted.​

The Lorenzo Natali Media Prize

This year’s Lorenzo Natali Media Prize is launched under the motto 'Today's stories can change our tomorrow' and coincides with the 2015 href='https://europa.eu/eyd2015/en' target='_blank'> European Year for Development. In December, the European Commission will once again award journalists for their outstanding reporting on development and poverty eradication.​
