Hisarcıklıoğlu's praise for success in employment
Problems and expectations of the industry were discussed at TOBB. TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, who spoke at the TOBB Chamber of Industry's Council Meeting, stated that, “The success in employment is a worldwide phenomenon. In 5 years covering the period of 2012-2016, we provided 2.4 million new jobs in Turkey. We are the country with the highest employment increase in Europe; producing more employment than the sum of Germany and France.”

Call for further co-operation with ECO countries
TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, who spoke at the 23rd Executive Board Meeting of the Economic Cooperation Organization Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ECO CCI), called on ECO countries to come together more and to cooperate. Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “As ECO countries, we will become the center of trade between Asia and Europe by making our trade routes transparent, safe and fast. All the energy and commerce corridors between Asia and Europe are passing through our region. We have important arable lands and tourism potential. There is no region like it elsewhere in the world.”

We need to develop a financial system independent of interest
Speaking at the Global Participation Finance Summit (GPAS İSTANBUL 2017), TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu said that while the industry has taken important steps to improve the participation system, the industry has outperformed the classical banking system twice over in the last 10 years. Hisarcıklıoğlu emphasized that the participation banks work more closely with SMEs and said, “We also expect support from the banks in our struggle with high interest rates.”

Minimum wage support must continue
Employers who provide sustainable growth and increased employment with government support following a 48% increase in minimum wage over the last two years are demanding that employment incentives continue. The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey and the Turkish Confederation of Employers' Associations, giving a joint statement, pointed out that in addition to the minimum wage increase of 2018, the cessation of state support would negatively affect the competitive power of the enterprises.
