Becoming ill during the meeting of the İskenderun Chamber of Commerce and Industry (İTSO) last week, the İTSO President and businessman Mehmet Binbay passed away at the hospital.​ ​

TOBB Board visited the licensed warehouses in Ahiboz

The TOBB Board of Directors, led by President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu toured the Licensed Warehouse Facility of the Ankara Chamber of Commerce at Ahiboz and inspected the Specialized Product Sales Hall and the silos. Hosted by the TOBB Board Vice President and Ankara Commodity Exchange President Faik Yavuz, TOBB Board Members were briefed on the Licensed Warehouses and viewed an example sale.​ ​

The gears of trade will be strained if trust in checks isn’t reestablished

Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, stating that the rates of dishonored checks are at their highest in the last three years and that the gears of trade will be strained even further unless trust in checks are reestablished, said, “The check credential system should be made available to the real sector via SMS. The honest enterprise should not suffer.”​ ​

During the EUROCHAMBRES General Assembly Hisarcıklıoğlu drew attention to the humanitarian tragedy playing out in Syria

TOBB President and European Economic and Social Committee (EUROCHAMBRES) Vice President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu attended the EUROCHAMBRES General Assembly. The meeting which took place at the Europe Economic and Social Committee Headquarters in Brussels was attended by Chambers Unions of 45 EUROCHAMBRES member countries.​ ​

Hisarcıklıoğlu: The secret of the residents of Kayseri is unity and solidarity

Speaking at the “Ancient City of Kayseri Publicity Days” held at ATO Congresium which was also attended by the President of the Republic Abdullah Gül, TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu said that the residents of Kayseri flock to help each other when the need arises and went on, “That is our greatest treasure.”​ ​

TOBB will construct a science high school and dormitory in Polatlı

The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) and the Polatlı Commodity Exchange will construct a 24 classroom Science High School in Polatlı, Ankara as well as a dormitory for 300 students. The protocol for the school and dormitory was signed by TOBB, Polatlı Commodity Exchange and the Ankara Governorship at the ceremony held at the TOBB Towers.​ ​

Addressing the members of the ATO council at the Ankara Chamber of Commerce Council Meeting regarding TOBB’s 60th Anniversary, TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “We are working without surcease to open the way for the Turkish private sector.” Hisarcıklıoğlu said that the Turkish chambers system has become an example for the whole world.​ ​

“The great master Erol Günaydın will live on in the hearts of his people”

TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu made an announcement regarding the passing of the master theatre actor Erol Günaydın: “We are grieved by the loss of a great artist who contributed greatly to Turkish theatre and television for over half a century. The name, Erol Günaydın, will live on forever in the hearts of this nation; it will not be forgotten.”​ ​
