Fatih Kemal Ebiçlioğlu, President of the Durable Consumer Goods Council of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), stated in his opening speech that the durable consumer goods sector is one of the sectors that will be most affected by the green transformation processes, so a rapid adaptation process is needed. Ebiçlioğlu stated that the world responded sensitively to the green transformation process. He underlined that not only large companies, but the entire ecosystem should be knowledgeable about the subject.

Kutlu Karavelioğlu, President of TOBB Machinery and Equipment Manufacturing Council, said in his opening address that countries should not be negligent about the twin transformations, which include climate policies and digital transformation and gain global importance. He stated that it is important to closely follow the efforts carried out by non-governmental organizations in our country.

Yılmaz Güldoğan, Vice President of TOBB Defense Industry Council, thanked TOBB for creating an important awareness in the green transformation webinar sectors, stating that a result-oriented dialogue environment should be established and that the sector is ready to fulfill its responsibilities. Güldoğan stated that it is possible to further Turkey's green transformation capacity thanks to corporate roadmaps prepared by companies in parallel with the country's policies. Yılmaz Güldoğan noted that countries cannot achieve their goals alone, and said that access to finance is important.

Horizon Consulting Co-Founder Eser Erginoğlu, underlining the contribution of machinery trade to the country's economy, noted the green transformation trends experienced in the relevant sectors. Erginoğlu stated that 25 million tons of electronic and consumer goods waste is produced annually in the world, and that many brands have now established various platforms to rent their products, and that leasing rather than ownership is being encouraged to prevent waste. Emphasizing that another increasingly common trend is the common use of durable consumer goods such as washing machines, Erginoğlu also explained that the right to repair durable consumer goods for ten years with the set of rules announced by the European Union is becoming increasingly important. Erginoğlu also informed about current environmental issues such as the “Fit For 55” package and the new energy label.

In webinar, TSE Environmental Supervision and Verification Manager Mehmet Ergün gave detailed information about the European Green Deal Action Plan and shared the studies carried out by TSE on the subject. Ergun stated that the European Green Deal is a response to environmental challenges and is aimed at protecting the health and well-being of citizens from environmental risks and impacts while protecting and developing natural capital.
