TOBB Turkey Health Institutions Council convened at the TOBB Union Center under Council President Seyit Karaca. Attending the meeting in addition to council members were General Health Insurance (GSS) Deputy Director Namık Kaya and GSS Health Services Department Director Ufuk Akdıkan.
Council members assessed the latest changes to the Health Application Communiqué, stating that the most commonly encountered problem is in regards to medical equipment. GSS Deputy Director Namık Kaya stated that work on 6 branches have been completed with a total of 20 planned to be completed by the end of the year.
- C-section and abortions
Also touching on the subjects of c-sections and abortions, council members stated that Turkey is one of the 5 countries with the highest c-section birth rates with 46.6%. Turkey is third after Brazil and China.
Council members stated that c-sections and abortions should be resorted to in accordance with the medical situations of the mother.
- Problems arising from the definition of “emergency”
Council members stated that, due to a difference in legislation between the Ministry of Health and the Insurance General Council, there are issues stemming from the definition of “emergency” in regards to billing in private hospitals.
