Waste and Recycling Industry Council Holds Third Meeting of the Year

The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB) Waste and Recycling Industry Council meeting was held under the chairmanship of Council President Ali Kantur, with the participation of TOBB Board Member Zeki Kıvanç. ​​​

Speaking at the opening, TOBB Board Member Zeki Kıvanç briefly informed the attendees about the draft legislation opened for consultation by the Ministries in recent months and the opinions submitted by the Council. Emphasizing the importance of the contributions of Council Members in the consultation process, Kıvanç stressed that they expected more support from the Members in this regard.

The first item on the meeting agenda was a consultation on the “Draft Regulation on the Use of Recycled Plastics in Materials and Articles Intended to Come into Contact with Food,” with the participation of representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry’s Food and Control General Directorate.

Following this, Didem Saygı Yavuz, Head of the Legislation and Environment Department at the Ministry of Trade’s General Directorate of Product Safety and Inspection, provided information on the “Import Inspection Notice for Waste Subject to Control for Environmental Protection (Product Safety and Inspection: 2025/3)” and the “Waste Shipment Regulation Working Group.”

Later in the meeting, Sabriye Ayhan, Head of the Circular Economy and Waste Management Department at the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change, provided information on the “Draft Regulation on the Management of Vegetable Waste Oils,” which was opened for discussion in recent weeks, and the draft was evaluated with the Assembly Members.

In the final agenda item, the need for sustainable waste management was discussed, and participants shared their assessments.
