“Added value services” gaining importance in the informatics sector

The TOBB Turkey Computer and Communication Council President A. Mete Çakmacı emphasized the need for a strategic goal with which to unite the sector as much as the need for solutions to shared problems, stating the need for an action plan.
The TOBB Turkey Computer and Communication Council Meeting was conducted in the TOBB Union Center Social Facilities with TOBB Board member Harun Karacan attending.During his speech, the TOBB Turkey Computer and Communication Council President A. Mete Çakmacı stated that, to ensure an atmosphere of healthy and sustainable competition in the sector, activity criteria must be identified and the importance of said criteria recognized. Çakmacı drew attention to the increasing importance of added value services of informatics throughout the world in addition to production, sales and integration activities. Çakmacı stated that policies to provide incentive to exercise similar activities in Turkey must be implemented.- “Sector problems must be expressed clearly”Attending the meeting, TOBB Board Member Harun Karacan said that sector councils were platforms designed to bring public institutions, NGOs and brand representatives together at a single table, and that the sector council of which he was previously a member of has effective results for the sector.- The lack of a healthy market Sector representatives expressed their concerns about the difficulties and obstacles stemming from legislation and public procurements, saying that the inability to create a healthy market atmosphere prevents companies from taking part in long term activities in the sector, causing the joint solution mechanism to stop functioning. Stating that when compared to European countries, the informatics spending per person is much lower in Turkey, even though Turkey holds great potential in this field with the ability to realize said potential if the opportunities and risks ahead of the sector are properly taken advantage of.
