Pointing out the strong historical bonds between the two countries during his speech at the business forum, Nihat Zeybekci stated that the shared will to further develop invigorates them greatly.
Reporting that the bilateral trade volume between the two countries has increased by 30% since Free Trade Agreement signed between the two countries in 2009 entered into effect in 2011, Burkay stated that despite all the improvements, there is a lot more to be done, “We have set ourselves the goal of reaching 2 billion USD in bilateral trade volume as soon as possible.”
TOBB Board Member İbrahim Burkay went on to speak on the subjects of the Trans-Pacific Trade Partnership, Trans-Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, the importance of the Turkish-Jordanian Business Council in offsetting the adverse effects of these two formations and concluding with the importance of transportation and logistics as a factor for competition.
Also speaking during the business forum were Turkey Exporters Council (TİM) Chairman Mehmet Büyükekşi and the Jordanian Minister for Commerce and Industry, Dr. Hatem Halavani.
Afterwards İbrahim Burkay attended the ceremony for the renewal of the Turkish – Jordanian Business Council followed by the 1st Term Meeting Memorandum of Understanding signature ceremony for the Turkish – Jordanian Partnership Committee.
Following the ceremonies, Burkay attended bilateral talks with Economy Minister Zeybekci and Jordan Prime Minister Dr. El Ansour. Touring the Mafraq Industrial Zone as a part of the official visit, Burkay attended the factory opening ceremony of the Kibar Holding.
Lastly Burkay attended the dinner held in honor of the Economy Minister and the delegation accompanying him by Ambassador Sedat Onal.
