Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey

Encouragement is necessary to find entrepreneurs

07.02.2015 / Erzurum

TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu attended the Erzurum Provincial Chambers and Commodity Exchanges Joint Meeting and touched on the importance of entrepreneurship and the need to promote entrepreneurship among youth and women.

Pointing out that girls attend university and then are expected to stay home after they find a good man, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “Why are we wasting our women. They attend university. They use the resources of the 77 million. When they finish school we tell them to stay home. That girl has usurped the right of whoever was behind her.”

Stating that Turkey needs to increase its entrepreneurs, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “We are a third of Japan in terms of entrepreneur numbers. We must increase the number of entrepreneurs if we are to catch up. The ratio of women in entrepreneurs in Turkey is 5%. We need entrepreneurs in order to provide employment to everyone joining the workforce each year. An entrepreneur provides employment to 10 others.

Let’s encourage women and young entrepreneurs. Young women and men should be entrepreneurs.”

Reminding that the Erzurum Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Commodity Exchange are 5-star chamber/exchanges, Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that they provide the same quality of service as those in Paris, London or Berlin.

Hisarcıklıoğlu pointed out the hopeful outlook of Erzurum, stating that Erzurum stands a chance to be the commerce capital of its region.
