Speaking at the ceremony, TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that TOBB promised to give the families of the miners who died each a house and that they’ve returned to fulfill this promise.

Stating that 4 months ago, 18 beautiful people were lost to them, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “Eighteen hardworking mine workers lost their lives. I pray for the grace of Allah upon their souls. I believe that Allah will reward everyone for the difficulties they’ve had to endure many times over as Allah is the most generous of givers. I extend my condolences to the families of the deceased.

The miners are the ward of our nation. This nation has always protected its wards. Our ministers have done so. Since the first day, the families have never been alone.”

Minister for Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yıldız reported that half of the coal mines in Turkey have been closed due to work safety.

Minister Yıldız stated that the tragedy which took place in Ermenek was felt throughout the country. He went on to detail the legislative changes made so that something like this would not happen again.

- Minister Elvan

Minister for Transportation, Maritime Affairs and Communications Lütfi Elvan stated that they feel the sadness of the families of the miners acutely.

Thanking TOBB for their donation of the houses reported that an additional house would each be provided for the families with the contributions of the Ankara and İstanbul Municipalities in order to provide the families with additional income.

Deeds for the houses were presented following the speeches.

- Ermenek Vodafone Agriculture Academy opening

Following the ceremony, TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, Minister for Transportation, Maritime Affairs and Communications Lütfi Elvan, Minister for Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yıldız attended the opening of the Ermenek Vodafone Agriculture Academy established by the Turkey Vodafone Foundation, Ermenek Municipality and TABİDER.
