TOBB and DEİK President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu spoke at the Turkish-Slovenian Business Forum organized by DEİK and stressed their desire to constitute strong economic cooperation with Slovenia, while the bilateral Trade volume has decreased 23%. He underlined the need to create mechanisms to increase the amount to the desired levels and such and increase would contribute also to the stability of Balkans. He also pointed to the low level of investments and the need to remove bureaucratic barriers.
While mentioning that the ski area is built by Slovenians for the World Winter university Olympics in Erzurum, Hisarcıklıoğlu said the two countries may cooperate in the fields of environment and communication.
State Minister Zafer Çağlayan stressed that the bilateral Trade has increased 40% in January and said Turkey should consider Slovenia as a border neighbor. Çağlayan defined the main problem as not knowing each other and expressed the importance of good dialogue for strengthened Commercial relations.
Slovenian Prime Minister Borut Pahor also delivered a speech at the opening of the Forum and mentioned that during his meeting with Turkish Prime Minister Erdoğan a day ago, they decided to have strategic cooperation among the two countries. He said “This is the sign of the fact that we start a new era regarding cultural, economic, political spheres.” He also mentioned that Slovenia is supportive of Turkey’s EU membership.
