At the video conference meeting organized with the participation of M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) and Murat Kurum, Minister of Environment and Urbanization, the problems and demands of the sector were discussed within the scope of the regulation of the classification of contractors.

TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu said that construction is one of the sectors most affected by the pandemic process, “Many of our companies encountered work, order and project cancellations at home and abroad. At this point, our government moved quickly. The measures and supports implemented under the leadership of our Minister were appreciated by our business world.”

Noting that in June launched low-interest mortgage campaigns allowed the sector to breathe and housing sales have reached significant levels, Hisarcıklıoğlu said that the construction sector serves as a locomotive for the economy.

Hisarcıklıoğlu also added that it would be useful to address issues such as zoning legislation and parking regulation, along with the definition and practices of contracting, from a sectoral and holistic point of view.
