Employment of Syrians discussed at EBSO

Aegean Region Industry Chamber held a meeting in order to provide information regarding the work permits and employment for the Syrian refugees present in Turkey which entered into effect as of the 15th of January, 2016.​

During the meeting held in cooperation by the Labor and Social Security Ministry and the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), General Labor Director Ä°lknur Tosun provided information regarding the legislation detailing the employment of Syrians who have been granted temporary asylum in Turkey, sanctions for off record employment, applications for work permits by temporary asylum seekers and recent developments.

EBSO Board Vice Chair Erdoğan Çiçekçi, during the Q&A session, stated that the legislation is new and employers lack information which may result in difficulties.

- Shortcomings of the legislation will be amended

Providing information in regards to the position of Syrians granted temporary asylum, Foreigner Protection Department Chair İlknur Tosun reported that they’ve received applications with the latest legislation in regards to residence and work permits from Syrians since 2013 and those granted IDs per temporary asylum. Tosun provided information regarding the regulations pertaining to the employment of these individuals.
