TOBB Chinese customs authorities conducted seminars on TIR system applications

TOBB hosted a training session for the authorities of the Customs General Administration of the People's Republic of China, with the participation of the representatives of Ministry of Customs and Trade, the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications and IRU on the 13th and 14th of March, 2017 in to present the operation and applications of the TIR system, which we are the largest practitioners in the international arena.​

Guests were informed by our Union and the Ministries in regards to the administrative structure for carrying out TIR operations, information sharing within technical requirements and cooperation between institutions, priorities for legal infrastructure, the Silk Road and e-TIR Pilot Projects.


Chinese authorities have indicated that e-TIR Pilot Projects will make a significant contribution to the modernization of customs procedures and data security, and requested support for the implementation of the e-TIR Project on the Silk Road route.


On the second day of the visit, Customs and Tourism Enterprises Co. Inc. presented one of the best examples of public-private sector cooperation, the Build-Operate-Transfer was introduced and a visit was conducted to the Kapıkule Customs Directorate to view the operations on-site.


It was stated that, as a part of the TIR Convention, TOBB will continue to provide support through its experience and know-how in the implementation of TIR Carnets system and operations in the People's Republic of China.


Our Union continues to work on bringing new markets to the international transport sector and improving border transit operations.
