Air Conditioning promises 14 billion Dollars savings yearly

TOBB Air Conditioning Council visited the Minister of Environment and Urbanism, Erdoğan Bayraktar in his office and shared with him the troubles and expectations of the sector. Pointing out the matter of energy efficiency, council members stated that 14 billion Dollars of savings could be made yearly if reforms are made to the structures found in public, private and industrial residences.
TOBB Air Conditioning Sector Council Member Gürkan Arı pointed out that coal and natural gas used for heating is imported and that in order to decrease foreign dependence in this regard construction needs to be done in accordance with the Energy Performance Regulations and correct use of isolation.

Stating that the natural gas conversion plants integrating heating and cooling systems in technologically developed countries are working at nearly 90% efficiency, Council Member Abdullah Bilgin said, “It is sad that we are still using combi heaters in 2012.”
- BEP.TR will be reconfigured
TOB Turkey Air Conditioning Council delegation stated during their visit to the Environment and Urbanism Minister Erdoğan Bayraktar the problems with the BEP.TR software used for Energy ID preparation and acquisition.
Stating that work has begun at TÜBİTAK for the improvement of the program Council Member Abdullah Bilgin said that not only academicians but also experts, professional architects and engineers working in the industry would be involved in this process.
- Request to delay the energy ID procedure until the new software is complete
Sector representatives, pointing out that the program is providing conflicting results with unverifiable certificates, requested that the energy ID procedure is suspended once again, without duration, until the new software is completed.

Listening to the assessments of the council members, the Minister of Environment and Urbanism, Erdoğan Bayraktar said, “Unless the results of the architectural and engineering solutions stated in the regulation are taken into account with their effects on energy class, this cannot be an well grounded application which is beneficial to our country. The Energy ID the integration of the architectural project with the mechanical and electrical installments and shedding unnecessary information is required. Let us work to this end together.
It was decided that all involved parties would convene under Deputy Undersecretary Sedat Kadıoğlu as per Minister Bayraktar’s order to assess the problems of the software application.
