TOBB Türkiye Transportation and Logistics Council meeting

The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB) Transportation and Logistics Council was held at TOBB İstanbul Service Building under the chairmanship of Council President Şerafettin Aras with the participation of TOBB Vice Chairman Tamer Kıran and Board Member Cihat Lokmanoğlu.​

The meeting brought together important public representatives of the sector and provided a comprehensive discussion of current developments in the field of transportation and logistics and the needs of the sector.

Mustafa Gümüş, Director General of Customs of the Ministry of Trade; Hayrettin Yıldırım, Istanbul Regional Director of the Ministry of Trade; Nevzat Bozkurt, Deputy Director General of Customs of the Ministry of Trade; Dr. Murat Korçak, Deputy Director General of Transportation Services Regulation of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure (MoTI); and Ufuk Yalçın, General Manager of Turkish Republic State Railways (TCDD) Transportation Co Inc attended the meeting, which was attended by members of the Turkish Transportation and Logistics Council and high-level public officials.

- Critical Issues Regarding the Logistics Industry Discussed

During the meeting, many important issues that directly affect the development of the sector were brought to the agenda. Among these, especially the establishment and development of logistics centers, customs processes and the acceleration of these processes, as well as the incentives given to railway transportation were discussed in detail. While sector representatives underlined the need to produce sustainable solutions in the field of transportation and logistics, it was emphasized that it is critical to take the necessary steps to encourage railway transportation and strengthen the infrastructure in this field.

- Strategic Steps for the Future of the Sector

Speaking at the meeting, members of the Council stated that the logistics sector has a great potential due to Türkiye's strategic location and that this potential should be utilized effectively. In this period of increasing international trade and transportation activities, it was stated that all stakeholders in the sector should cooperate to develop Türkiye's logistics centers and increase its competitiveness in global trade.

While it was stated that digitalization and the provision of fast solutions, especially in customs processes, would strengthen Türkiye's position in international trade, it was emphasized that the issues discussed at the meeting should be implemented with a solution-oriented approach.
