ICC WCF technical meetings in Ä°stanbul

The World ATA Carnet Council (WATAC) 2024 2nd Term Meeting of the ATA Carnet System, which facilitates temporary import/export transactions, was held in İstanbul on October 28-29, 2024, hosted by the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB). 51 participants from 30 country guarantor organizations and ICC Officials attended the meeting where the latest developments in the ATA Carnet system were discussed.​
The meeting also discussed the ongoing work on the ICC's digital ATA Carnet System (eATA). Representatives of our Association provided information on the latest status of the e-ATA system in Türkiye and exchanged views on our adaptation process to the electronic system.
In the meeting where the statistics for the first half of 2024, country-based reports and marketing initiatives were discussed, numerical data on the use of the ATA Carnet from 2023 to date were shared by our Association, and expectations were expressed about the data expected until the end of the year.
As a result, the meeting emphasized the importance of cooperation and standardization to make the temporary import processes of worldwide trade more efficient. With the e-ATA project and new guidelines, the ICC stated that it aims to strengthen the process.
- ICC WCF International Council on Certificate of Origin Meeting
The 2nd meeting of the ICC WCF International Certificate of Origin Council (ICOC) in 2024, which was established to strengthen and improve the position of the Chambers authorized to issue Certificates of Origin worldwide, was held in Ä°stanbul on 30-31 October 2024, hosted by TOBB.
The ICOC meeting was attended by 60 representatives from 40 countries. During the meeting, consultations were held on the international developments in the field of origin and the impact of these developments on the services provided by the Chambers in the field of origin, the current projects of the ICC WCF regarding the approval of Certificates of Origin and the development studies on these projects, and the activities of the ICC WCF for the upcoming period. In addition, with the new opportunities provided by technology, the road maps to be followed in order to make the services provided by the Chambers to their members more qualified in matters of origin were discussed.
During the meeting, a presentation was also made on the duties and responsibilities of TOBB, the documentation of origin in Türkiye, the legislation on the approval of certificates of origin, and our Association's Automation System for Certificates of Origin and Circulation (MEDOS). In the presentation, detailed information was given on the duties of our Union, its institutional structure, the work carried out on origin issues, the approval procedure of the origin documents of our Chambers and the activities carried out on the origin legislation in coordination with the Ministry of Trade.
