Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “We are indebted to the Veteran, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and all of his brothers in arms for giving us the opportunity to live as we do today. They sacrificed of themselves and we, as the business world, will strive to better the lives of our countrymen by working, providing employment and strengthening our production power. Our goal is to become one of the largest economies of the world, to increase the quality of life as well as the social, cultural and material riches of our nation. We must strive to be worthy of the sacrifices of our predecessors who sacrificed their lives in the name of freedom and national sovereignty.”
In his statement, TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu said:
“We are overjoyed to be celebrating, once again, the anniversary of the inauguration of the Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Turkey and the declaration of national sovereignty. We are also proud to be the first and only country in the world to be gifting this holiday to children.
As the great Atatürk said, the foundation of both freedom and justice is national sovereignty. Immediately after our war for independence, our race for modern civilization began and the goal was set for our children.
It is with these feelings and thoughts that I heartily celebrate the April 23rd National Sovereignty and Children’s Day of our nation.”
