Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey

Born in 1959 in Zenica (Bosnia-Herzegovina), Şekib Avdagiç started his primary education in Cologne, Germany and continued his education in İstanbul. He completed his primary and secondary education in Istanbul. Şekib Avdagiç graduated from İstanbul Technical University in 1982 as a Mechanical Engineer, and in 1988 he graduated from İstanbul University, Faculty of Business Administration with a degree in Business Administration Specialization Program.

 

Mr. Avdagiç is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of companies operating in the automotive industry for 50 years.

 

Şekib Avdagiç was elected as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of İstanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) in the elections held in April 2018. He still continues to serve in this position.

 

Şekib Avdagiç is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors of İstanbul World Trade Center (İDTM) A.Ş. and Vice Chairman of Teknopark İstanbul Inc.

 

In 1990, Mr. Avdagiç took part in the founding committee of the Independent Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (MÜSİAD) and served as its Vice President until 2000.

 

Between 2008 and 2011, he served as a member of the Executive Committee and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the İstanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture Agency.

 

In 2023, he was elected as Vice President of TOBB.

Avdagiç speaks English and Bosnian and is married with two children.
