Customs Gates must work nonstop
In the Turkish Transportation and Logistics Board meeting in Istanbul, the sector’s troubles were addressed. Railway and highway transporters stated that the current practice hampers the sector due to the work hours of customs gates and overtime pay. The Sector Board petitioned for the 35th clause of the Customs Law to be changed in a manner as to allow customs gates to function 7/24.

We must increase our trade volume to 5 billion dollars
H.E. Dr. Ewa Björling, Trade Minister of Sweden; Hakan Akensson, Ambassador of Sweden in Ankara and the Swedish delegation had been the guests of TOBB at the working dinner on 12 April 2011 which was hosted by Mr. Faik Yavuz, TOBB Vice President and Ankara Commodity Exchange President. The Swedish businessmen delegation met with representatives from Turkish public institutions and firms during the working dinner.

According to the data for documents issued by TOBB;
The number of issued journey authorization permits in March 2011 decreased by 3,93% with respect to the same month last year, while the number of issued TIR carnets increased by 6,41% for the same period with respect to the same month last year.

TOBB ETU wins two first prizes in International METU Robotic Days
TOBB ETU won two first prizes in the 8th International METU Robotic Days. In the event where over 400 robots participated and robot contests were held in various categories, TOBB ETU won the first prize in the free category with the ‘ETUIHA’ unmanned aerial vehicle project, and the first prize in the multiple mini sumo’s category with Multiple Mini Sumo Robots Team called ‘Three Musketeers’.

Turkish Petrol and Petroleum Products Assembly Make “Illicit Fuel” Alert
Turkish Petrol and Petroleum Products Assembly alert the public about the illicit fuel activities. The representatives of sector indicates that while sector contends with illicit fuel activities carried out under the No. 10 oil, it faces a new threat which is the product obtained by the recycling of automotive tire. Assembly implied that the technical properties of the laboratory research on samples obtained from the product is very close the technical properties of diesel fuel.
