Agricultural goods increasing current deficit
TOBB Agriculture Council met under Emin Demirci at the TOBB Union Center. Making the opening speech of the meeting, Council President Emin Demirci stated that the importance of the agriculture sector has increased in the recent years and as a result, concerns regarding the future of the sector and food have been increasingly on the agenda.

Turkish-UAE Business Forum held in Dubai
Speaking at the Turkish – United Arab Emirates (UAE), TOBB Board Vice President Faik Yavuz emphasized that we should have a larger share of the 16 trillion Dollars world trade volume and said, “We must make our region the center of commerce, prosperity and peace. In order to accomplish this we must rapidly develop the bonds of friendship and trade cooperation between us.”

The Thrace region is expectant in regards to a solution to the fuel tax implemented at customs
The TOBB Board Member Mustafa Yardımcı, relaying the Edirne and Kırklareli concerns regarding the fuel tax to be implemented for those traveling to and from abroad more than 4 times a month to the Customs and Commerce Ministry Undersecretary Ziya Altunyaldız, stated that there is work towards not applying this clause of the law to EU and neighboring countries and that the matter would be presented at the first Ministers’ Council.

The Regulatory Reform Strategy was assessed at a workshop hosted by the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey. The strategy encompasses analysis of the positive and negative effects of public actions in certain fields and the passing on of the information to decision-makers.

Gökoğuz Autonomous Region Chair of the People’s Assembly Harlamenko visited TOBB
The Chair of the People’s Assembly of the Gökoğuz (Gagauzia) Autonomous Region, Anna Harlamenko and her accompanying delegation visited TOBB, meeting with the TOBB Secretary General Mustafa Saraçöz and the Deputy Secretary General Ali Emre Yurdakul. Drawing attention to the business and investment opportunities in Gagauzia, Harlamenko said that they view Turkey as a sibling and follow its example.
